This program works on PC's running Windows 95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP. The detailed download instructions below were designed for my computer (I have Windows Me) and may be slightly different on your computer. In short, there are three steps:
(1) Download the main program (from Sweden)
(2) Download my customized dictionary
(3) Make sure my customized dictionary is in the
same folder as the main Selingua program.
(1) To download the main program click on THIS LINK and follow the instructions. Once you have downloaded the program please install it (doubleclick on the folder with a zipper if it does not open automatically). Install everything in the default locations suggested by the program.
(2) Once you install the program you can open it (Click on the "Start" button on your desktop and under the "Programs" icon you'll see a new folder titled "Selingua"). You'll see that the program comes with a Spanish dictionary (as well as French, German and Swedish). These dictionaries are fine, but I have created customized dictionaries so that students can study the words that will actually be on the quiz in class. Choose from the links below to download a customized dictionary, keeping in mind that each dictionary has all the words from the preceding dictionaries (that is, Spanish 3 chapter 1 also has all Spanish 1 & 2 words).

This window asks you where you want to save the file. It is important that you do not choose the default location. Instead, click on the button that I have circled in the image above and (if your computer is like my computer) open the following files:
-(C:) drive
(or whichever drive is the harddisk)
-Program Files
Selingua
Once you save the customized dictionary into the Selingua folder you should reopen the Selingua program. Click on the bottom button labelled "Dictionaries". Be sure to deselect the Selingua dictionaries and select the customized dictionary that you have downloaded. You will have to reselect the customized dictionary every time you open the program.
If you still cannot download this program but would like it, I will consider making a house call (when I have time), especially if dinner is included!

(2)Like Selingua, this comes with its own set of dictionaries. I have made a few customized dictionaries but, unlike Selingua, you can only have one dictionary installed at a time.

The computer may ask if you want to rewrite over the file "selingua.dct"; answer yes.

Drawbacks: Since I have modified a game for English speakers, there are no [ñ] tiles. As a result no words with [ñ] are in the dictionary. There are also no [ll] or [rr] tiles.
(2) Click HERE to download the customized Spanish scrabble dictionary. Just like in the above downloads you should first respond "SAVE" and then save the dictionary to the following spot on your harddrive:
-My Computer
-(C:) drive
-Networdz
(3) Now open Networdz by doubleclicking on the icon on your desktop.
Click on the [Dictionary] button and then "Import Dictionary.... Click on the file "spanishscrabblewords.txt".
Under the [Options] button click on "players" to choose to play against the computer; once you are ready to play click on the [Game] button.
